Her Danish culture and family traditions will often find their way into her art. She grew up in a family of artists, quilters, and creative thinkers who have influenced her art and her life.

Carrie has an appreciation and love for textiles, especially quilts. She attributes this to her great grandmother and her sister, both skilled quilters. Quilts often show up in her art, symbolizing feelings of unity, connection, warmth, love, and protection.
